Welcome! It’s my first post, guys!

TLDR: I struggled for years with unhealthy habits which lead to an unhealthy body. I believe everyone can be their healthiest if we just get out of our own way! Let’s help each other out on the journey to our healthiest and happiest selves!

Hello Friends! Welcome to my first-ever blog post and the beginning of what will hopefully be an inspirational, encouraging, and a bit educational journey for all of us, myself included, as we do this thing together! I’m stoked for the beginning of Momentum Plus but I am extra excited about this blog because it’s going to give me a place to be open and real with you all and hopefully also be a resource to you for all thing health and fitness related. I know, for myself, when starting my own health journey, all of the info out there was so overwhelming and I didn’t know which sources were legit or just plain bogus info, so I want to give y’all this space as a place to go to for researched, credible info to help you along your own journey.

Just imagine (if you can…), you can’t wait to wake up in the morning. (It that even possible??) The alarm goes off and you instantly think, not of the things you HAVE to do that day, but all that you GET to do… because you are able! A life where you have energy, your body feels good, and you actually look forward to being active and productive! I get that, for most people, our days are filled with work and family and social obligations, and it feels like you are on autopilot, just coasting through. Everyone has days like this. But it’s possible to have more of those energetic and productive days than those dreaded and low-energy ones.

But, real talk, for most of my adult life, I didn’t feel ANY of those things and I didn’t even know it was possible. I was out of shape, overweight, in pain daily, had awful sleep patterns, and a terrible relationship with food. It had been that way for so long, I figured most of what I was feeling was normal (I’m just getting older, right?) and the “healthy” or “fit” people I knew were the abnormal ones… (They must have good genetics. I bet they were born with a fast metabolism. They’ve probably always been athletic so it’s natural for them…)

The fact is, although the majority of people in our society are overweight and out of shape due to current culture and habits, it’s actually more “normal” for us to be healthy (aka everything functioning properly and with energy). Our bodies are designed to be constantly trying to bring us back to it’s best possible condition… as long as we don’t fight against it!

And right there is the kicker! This is what I never fully understood, the thing I always knew (I need to eat healthy, exercise.. blah blah blah..) but never really *clicked* in my mind.. that our bodies are MEANT to feel all of those good things!! (to have energy and feel strong, etc.) And just how badly I was actually sabotaging myself because my habits. It was my own fault that I had no energy, that my body felt stiff and achy all of the time, that I was out of shape.. No one else’s. Only mine. When I honestly thought about it, I could use no other excuse for my health. Everything stemmed from one source… my unhealthy habits and choices, both with food and exercise.

I had this realization and began my own personal health journey about 2 years ago. I stopped thinking about “losing weight” and instead asked myself “how can I be my most healthy”? I did countless hours of research, reading, listening to audiobooks, podcasts, and just plain ole trial-and-error with what works best for my body. Since then, my body has found it’s balance in so many ways. I do wake up with energy. I do get excited to be active every day. My gut health is functioning better than it has in all of my adult life. I feel strong. …all of those things that I never knew was even possible for my body to feel.

And I believe that everyone can feel this good too, both healthy and happy. Your body WANTS to feel good and you DESERVE for it to.

My journey isn’t over. This is just the beginning. And I really want you to join me too! I want you to live the healthy and energetic life that you are meant to have! Your body IS CAPABLE, you deserve it, and you owe it to yourself!

In this blog I’m going to talk about some nutrition tips, fitness advice, and healthy habits and I will be sharing some of my own personal struggles and victories along the way. A health journey is never over!

I hope you and I can be like family and encourage each other on this journey! I’m excited for both of us!!!
